Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, continues to expand its global impact with the establishment of the Alpha Delta Alpha Omega Chapter in London, United Kingdom, on May 30th. This milestone underscores the sorority’s commitment to broadening its reach and fostering community empowerment worldwide.

Comprising 25 charter members, the chapter boasts accomplished women from diverse fields such as real estate, finance, medicine, and business. Their dedication to community service is evident through collaborative efforts with over a dozen local organizations. Initiatives like distributing more than 350 Childhood Hunger Power Packs (CHIPP™ weekend meals), assembling over 200 Blessing Bags, and conducting an eight-week entrepreneurship training program for women highlight their impactful contributions. Additionally, they have volunteered over 200 hours and invested £3,000 in Black-owned businesses, underscoring their commitment to economic empowerment and social upliftment.

Supported by volunteers and visiting sorority members, the chapter plans to continue its community-focused initiatives. Future projects include collecting professional clothing for women re-entering the workforce and distributing children’s books authored by Black writers, aimed at promoting literacy and career readiness among youth.

Carrie J. Clark, International Regional Director for Alpha Kappa Alpha, commended the chapter’s efforts, describing its members as exemplary servant leaders poised to enhance the sorority’s legacy in the Greater London area.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, boasts a rich history of international service, including initiatives like building schools in South Africa, aiding women and children in Liberia, and combating poverty in sub-Saharan Africa. The sorority also pioneered the For Members Only Federal Credit Union, the first Black-owned, female-led digital financial institution affiliated with a sorority.

Founded in 1908 at Howard University by nine visionary collegiate women, Alpha Kappa Alpha has grown to over 365,000 members across 13 countries and territories, including the United Kingdom.
